I took these photos in the grounds of the Peles Castle in Siniai, Romania. It was such a fascinating place, a modern castle built in the late 1800’s- early 1900’s with a baby castle (Pelisor). Inside the rooms were left as they were when the place was lived in,. The large castle is seriously Gothic and everything you’d hope for from a Romanian palace.  The smaller palace was my favourite though, more like just a very big house it was built for the younger generation of royals and has a more contemporary interior with huge Art Nouveau and arts and crafts influence.  I recommend a visit to both, look out for the old vacuum cleaner, secret entrance through the book case and the gold room.
