Thursdays “Penned in the Margins” has got to be the liveliest poetry event Aubin & Wills has seen. The 10th (i think) time for Aubin hosting the night, run by Tom Chivers, saw 4 dynamic modern poets, Hannah Silva (renowned for the distinctive “double tounging” technique), Siddhartha Bose with his city inspired prose, Jack Underwood with a rather charming poem about eggs (he loves the concept of them!), and Gemma Seltzer whose book Speaking to Strangers was launched at the event.

She read about 5 extracts from the book taken out of the blog format which the project began in. The simple concept of 100 encounters with 100 strangers in 100 words has produced a book full of relatable and endearingly observational poems which I would recommend to anyone who like myself needs an accessible introduction to the medium.
